Project Summary
The form of the Willow Creek Huntley worship facility is derived from a combination of environmental, programmatic, and perspectival responses to the context. Each façade tells a unique story. The northern façade consists of a delicately detailed screen that shields the back of house elements. The façade is punctuated with a dynamic form of the youth space. The intensity of the bright orange form is a symbol of truth and hope in the midst of darkness. The main entrances are located on the east façade allowing for optimal daylight during morning hours when the facility will be most populated. The southern façade is fully glazed presenting the interior gathering space a panoramic vista of the wetlands and farmland beyond. The western façade is intentionally designed for future expansion. The design includes a 1000 seat auditorium, children class room space, youth center, offices, coffee shop and informal gathering space.
